www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy

You guys are very special to me because I’m always encouraged by you. That said I have great news to share with you all. I’m finally done with my college career! I’m so thankful for all the memories over the past four years. Today’s post has somewhat of significance because I got a job offer after I ate this meal. So yes, despite the depressing articles about the job market on the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times - I’ll be working in New York City starting next week!

I discovered this place next to one of the two interviews I had that day. It was raining and I had no umbrella but I somehow found my way here by jumping from one Duane Reade to another since they’re on every corner. Apparently, most of the items here are pre-made which makes it perfect for the city goers to grab and go. Also, I can tell that they use good quality ingredients. The smoky flavor from the ham is quite different from the normal deli sliced hams. The only thing that turned me off was the bread/baguette because these sandwiches are placed into the fridge area right after they’re made, which makes the bread hard/stale. I still prefer Au Bon Pain since they have the made to order option. But I wouldn’t mind coming here again if I’m in the area.

-FOODIE GLANCE-

Place: Pret A Manger

Item(s): Pret’s ham and cheese sandwich

Rating: 3

(scale 1-5)

Final Thoughts: A message to my 2013 class/recent grads…I can’t guarantee that you’ll get a job offer after eating from here but don’t be discouraged if you can’t find a job right after you graduate. I know that some of you will think “well, it’s easy for you to say since you have a job lined up” but I’ve been searching for jobs a month before I graduated. And yes, the timing was perfect for me. The important thing to take away from my experience is that I kept searching for opportunities. When I interned at Food Network Magazine, I’ve worked with such amazing and talented group of people. Most of them told me that they didn’t get a job right after they graduated from college. It took months before they found an opening. One of my favorite people there once told me this, “every interview you go on makes you stronger for the next one.” The job will find you so don’t give up on the search because someone is searching for your skills set and most importantly - your personality! Congrats on graduating and good luck :)

www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy

Cheers to the cutest couple I know, Bryce and Steph! We had a surprise dinner party for Bryce since he’s moving away to Alabama. He has been a great friend and brother to all of us in PEM. We wish you the best!

As for the food, I’m not a huge fan of Ichiumi. One thing that has changed is the new addition of the hot-pot (since I last came here, which was a year ago). Sadly, it’s not one of the best hot-pots I’ve had but it was a fun experience. I’m usually dissatisfied with most of my sushi buffet experiences because the quality of the sushi isn’t as fresh as I would like it to be. Nothing amazed my taste-buds here but I left with a full and happy stomach. If you have a friend who can’t eat raw fish, there are a lot of alternatives for them! No worries!

I spent the last day of my internship meeting with the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Food Network Magazine (role models), went on an interview, got some frozen yogurt with the marketing team, and said my goodbyes to everyone. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity to work with such an awesome group of people. I will miss the FNM family.

Afterwards, I ate some delicious Korean food at K-town in New York City with my girls, what more could I have asked for? This was a great way to end my internship! Jen and Grace suggested that we go to Pocha 32, which is famous for its resemblance of Korea’s outdoor tented food stalls. The budae jjigae is more westernized but it stays true to mixing all different sorts of ingredients together to create a stew. This one contained sausage, spam, dduk, ramen, squash, mushroom, cheese, etc. Next, we ordered some cheese ddeuk bok ki, which also contained seafood. Sadly, the portion was very small and pricey - $16. Plus, this wasn’t as spicy as I wanted it to be. But both Grace and I fell in love with the thick layer of melted cheese. If you know what kind of cheese they use, please tell me!

Final Thoughts: It can’t compare to the delicious food back in Korea but it’s good enough. Next time, I’ll have to try their watermelon soju!

www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy

I’ve been living under a rock these days. On days like this, I usually grab something from Au Bon Pain on campus. Originally, the Newport Turkey sandwich comes on a country white but I asked for a ciabatta instead. Trust me, if you don’t want your sandwich to fall apart on your lap, get it on a ciabatta (from experience).

One thing I noticed was that employees don’t have the proper “heat protecting” gloves to keep them from getting burned as they handle the hot sandwiches. Because it’s too hot, they can’t grip the sandwich properly when they cut it in half = they get burned = all the ingredients come out of the sandwich = a huge mess when you actually eat it. Since they went through all this trouble making my sandwich, I can’t complain about how sloppy it comes out most of the time. This time around, everything was intact - they made it perfectly! An avocado is nature’s natural butter. The creaminess from it complimented the tangy zesty honey mustard sauce and cheddar cheese, which was gooey and good.

We each ordered our own personalized burgers. As usual, I grabbed a moon burger with some of my favorite toppings: pepper-jack cheese and bacon. And those sweet potato waffle fries were pretty good but I wish they gave us more. Not bad, Moon.

As most of you know, Cafe 57 (inside the Hearst Tower) is one of the perks of my internship.

I absolutely love burgers! Build-your-own burger day was the most highly anticipated lunch event I looked forward to this semester. Danielle (who is one of the nicest and coolest assistants) and I ate these burgers in October last year and ever since then, we’ve patiently waited for this day to come. The 6 month wait is finally over!

My burger contains: beef patty, whole wheat sunflower bun, pepper jack cheese, bacon, sauteed onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, and a side of onions & sweet potato fries.

Sauces: ketchup, chipotle mayo, wasabi mayo, roasted red peppers sauce.

It’s really frustrating to see the violent act that occurred in Boston today. A fellow classmate said something that stuck with me, “There’s nothing worse than taking away someone’s passion.” These runners…young and old…did not deserve this at all. It breaks my heart.

In respect to the victims and their family and friends, I will post today’s blog tomorrow (or sometime this week). I personally feel that the focus shouldn’t be on food right now (I hope you understand). Lives have been lost, peace needs to be restored, and the hurt needs to be healed. My prayers go out to those who are affected from this tragic incident.

If you’re in the area, I encourage you to help in any way that you can. And I’m truly thankful for the volunteers and people who are helping out. God bless you. Be safe.

During my internship last semester, one of the account directors asked me to pick up some cookies for her clients. Since then, Momofuku cookies have always had a place in my hea…stomach. Initially, I didn’t like the cookies but now I’m “addicted” to these sugary delights. For $5+ you can chose three cookies. I’m pretty sure I consumed a day’s worth of calories in one sitting!

My favorite: (A tie) Blueberry and cream cookie & compost cookie

Jane and I met up at Ippudo for our little reunion. We haven’t seen each other in years and it was great to catch up with her again! She has a 6 month paid internship lined up with a well-known company in Germany. And did I mention that she’s really smart? I’m so excited for her upcoming journey! Good luck Jane :)

At Ippudo, I spent $14+ on just a bowl of ramen for lunch. This place is known for their long waits, over 4,000 reviews, and 4 stars on Yelp. On average, people wait for an hour to be seated. What’s mind blowing is that…they actually wait. Luckily, Jane and I waited for 10 minutes! The atmosphere of this place was really loud. The employees yell something every 5 minutes and it distracted us and we had to talk over it. Plus, you’ll sit next to random strangers. The ramen was pretty good and the portions are perfect.

But wow, hands down they have the best pork buns but they’re a little pricy. Then again, I paid $14+ for ramen so I shouldn’t complain. The pork bun was full of flavors and moist, I wish I had ordered more. I would come back just for these pork buns.

Rating: 3 1/2

Final Thoughts: The Ramen was good.
Cheers to another fun food date! I ate with Sarah, she’s so cute and funny, sorry fellas - she’s taken haha. We spent some good quality time together and talked about boys, goals, to name a few. Surprisingly, I found out that we have so much in common (major, sports, etc.). We must have another food date soon :)

As for the food, this place is my “safety.” The entrees here are okay and they have great fries (crispy, crunchy, and seasoned). I love avocado so this wrap worked well for me. The only complaint I had was the thinly sliced turkey because it was a bit dry. This dish was solid but nothing special.

-FOODIE GLANCE-

Place: Harvest Moon Brewery & Cafe

Item: Special of the day - Tomato tortilla wrap with thinly sliced turkey, avocado, cheddar, chipotle sauce, lettuce, and tomatoes.

Rating: 3

(scale 1-5)

Final Thoughts: Cold fries…still good.

My final stop for my spring break...

www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy

My final stop for my spring break was RISD. If you know me, I need to eat Korean food at least once a day. The Korean inside me craved for something spicy and sweet. Cheese tukbooki is loaded with carbs and calories yet so satisfying. Stephanie and I chose to get bibimbop which was a lot healthier. After our huge lunch we walked it off around the mall haha.

Thanks again Steph, it’s always fun to hang out with you! :)

Place: Sura (Providence, RI)

Mini-shout out: Thanks again Jenny for walking us down to the train station (despite the cold weather!). And Steph for coming up to BU to pick me up! Lastly, Monica for taking care of me! :) You girls are awesome!

I cannot describe how thankful I am to have these girls in my life. We all went to Fin’s to grab a roll or two for dinner. To be honest, I wasn’t full with one roll but it was enough to drive the hunger away. The soft-crab roll was great when it came down to the flavor and texture. There was a nice crunch from the crab tempura and cucumbers as it mingled with the creaminess from the avocado.

This place was so dark, I couldn’t even see the food in front of me. With the help of two iPhones, I was able to take this picture haha.

Place: Fin’s sushi and grill on Beacon Street (Boston, MA)

My cousin introduced me to this “reaaaaaaaaaade beannne smoothie” (inside joke) and I loved it! You can taste the red bean flavor with a hint of vanilla. It basically tastes like red bean ice cream with bubbles. I love red bean…

Since I was in Boston, I had to set a date to see Sam. My cousin and I shared a nice meal with great talks at Le’s which was perfect on a cold snowy day. He’s about to finish his freshmen year at Boston college and I’m so proud of him! Good luck :)

This huge bowl of pho was quite satisfying. The fried spring rolls are also good and savory. If you’re in Boston and you love pho, this place is worth a visit. The prices are very reasonable compared to the pho around the New Jersey area. You get a lot of noodles and meat, which I love! I wasn’t able to completely finish my bowl of pho, they give you so much of everything! Le, thank you for the awesome pho!

I would always prefer my hot drink in a nice glass cup with a saucer. I’m not really sure what makes this latte “Spanish” but it’s pretty good. It’s not too sweet or rich, just the perfect amount of creaminess and thickness. This place is such a cute place, great for study sessions! Also, I love the latte art! The experience is quite special when someone actually makes your drink with love.

The evening I arrived in Boston, my friend Monica brought me to the famous Nud Pob Thai restaurant in the BU area. Before my arrival, she asked me what I was craving for. To my surprise, she created a long list of restaurants for me to choose from, she’s so cute! Thank you for dinner and the warm hospitality! You have such a loving heart, you’re awesome! :)

If you come here, there are so many items to choose from, it’s a bit overwelming at first! This place offers cheap, fast, and good Thai food, which is perfect for college students who are on-the-go. In the end, we decided to share two dishes together, chicken and duck pad see ew. Yes, it’s practically the same dish, we love pad see ew! The flavor of the duck was too rich and dense for my taste but was very moist. Just to be safe, I would recommend the chicken rather than the duck. I left with a full stomach!

Place: Nud Pob Thai Cuisine (Boston, MA)

First Item: Chicken Pad See Ew

Rating: 3 1/2

2nd Item: Duck Pad See Ew

Rating: 3

(scale 1-5)

Final Thoughts: It’s like noodle gourmet but made with fresher ingredients and tastes more authentic, of course.

www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy
I present to you, another food...

www.facebook.com/snapeatenjoy

I present to you, another food adventure with my favorite food buddy! Grace and I made our way to a recent food phenomenon in Rutgers. We were really excited to try the new food truck. To be honest, I think that this truck will either be a hit or a miss because the taste of the food depends on who cooks the food that day. The food truck is part of the Rutgers dining hall services so the people seem to change once in a while, which means that the taste will not be consistent. One thing I like about this truck is that they use fresh ingredients. The truck was a fun experience and I enjoyed the whole concept of it but they need to improve the overall flavors of the sandwiches. Otherwise, I love the presentation - it’s adorable!

Place: Knight Wagon Food Truck (New Brunswick, NJ)

Item: The “Twisted Gyro” Burger combo

Rating: 2 1/2

(scale 1-5)

Final Thoughts: I would have given this item a 3-3 1/2 if they had seasoned the ground lamb patty. Ask for more sauce. The burger contains the following: spinach, lamb, feta cheese, and cucumbers. I don’t think I would be willing to go out of my way to get an item at truck again. If the truck comes to me, I’ll get it. The prices are very reasonable, cheap food on the go!

I’M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!

I’ve dreamed of this day ever since I was in middle school! I still can’t believe I walked through Food Network’s test kitchens. As a foodie, this was truly a wonderful moment. We (Gina, Carissa, and Ashley) were able to try some of the treats (such as this “pie pop” and brownies, which was amazing!) that the Food Network chefs whipped up that day. We also had a fun tour around Food Network and inside Chelsea Market.

I’m so thankful for these opportunities, the people I meet, and my every day encounters.

Forever thankful.

"SNAP CHALLENGE"

Hey everyone!
