“NEW CHAPTER”
Hey everyone!
Wait, no pictures of FOOD?! WHAT, WHY NOT?
No worries, the food blogs will continue to arrive every Monday followed with delicious pictures. (SIDE NOTE: I wasn’t able to go out and eat because I was sick all week…sorry :( we’ll be back on schedule next week!) The main reason I decided on the new look was because I want to capture different elements of my food experiences, which will be reflected in both my photography & critiques. I want to tell a story, my story.
With the new year in mind, I’ve made several changes to my food blog. I also reflected on my goals and expectations for the year 2013. Looking back onto the year 2012, I’ve been so blessed to intern at the Food Network Magazine last semester. I worked with such talented and wonderful people. I’m excited to see where my passion will take me. I have no idea what the future holds - but I hope that you’ll come along and follow me as I explore, take chances, and dive into the world of food.
Thank you for all the love and support!
Love,
-Snapeatenjoy-
Place: Sant Ambroeus (New York, NY)
Item: Pumpkin ricotta cheesecake and a chocolate millefoglie
Price: $21.00 (not including tax/tip)
My experience: We stumbled upon this dessert place not realizing that a cup of coffee costs $7, pricier than Starbucks. By the time we ordered, it was too late to turn back. The desserts here were pretty good, made with good quality ingredients. I’m a huge fan cheesecake and pumpkin so the two combined was perfect.

Place: Destination Dog (New Brunswick, NJ)
Item: Domestic dog - “The Oscar: California (LAX)”
Price: $6.25 (not including tax/no tip)
My experience: This new hot dog joint recently opened on campus. Their specialty, you guessed it, hot dogs. The meal comes with house-made chips which were a bit greasy but well seasoned. I really liked the chicken sausage because it was fresh and had a kick of heat to it. The “bun” was crispy and lightly toasted, perfect. I must warn you that this meal will get messy, nothing actually stays in the bun except the hot dog when you bite into it. All of the sausages are hand made. Next time, I want to try one of the international dogs. This place is a cute and friendly restaurant. The prices range from $4-10 a hot dog.

Place: Starbucks
Item: Tall eggnog Latte with a hint of nutmeg
Price: $3.75 (without tax/no tip)
My experience: I can’t give a fair review on this post because I’ve never tried eggnog before, crazy right? Sadly, I wouldn’t be able to differentiate the taste of it. Trying regular eggnog will be on my list during the winter break. The latte was smooth, creamy, and sweet. Let me know what you think!

Place: Eats (New York, NY)
Item: Living Social deal: 2 dozen Blue Point oysters + 2 martinis
Price: $39.00 (not including tax/tip)
My experience: Let me start of by saying that our waiter was amazing! He very was friendly and he knew everything on the menu, in detail. If it wasn’t for the Livingsocial deal, I probably wouldn’t have come here since the prices are a bit high, most college students can’t splurge on a meal like this. Our regular bill came out to around $140, which was crazy (we ordered another appetizer). Surprisingly, out of the 24 oysters, 3 were bad. In the end, the Livingsocial deal was worth it.

Place: Available at any grocery/specialty stores
Item: Ritter Sport chocolate (cornflakes)
My experience: Thanks again P.Diana for the chocolates! I found my new favorite Ritter sport chocolate! I wasn’t able to capture the details of the chocolate (in the pictures above) but the texture is there. When you bite into it, you can taste the freshness of each cornflake. Overall, it’s very creamy and crunchy with every bite! I usually prefer dark chocolate but I’m a fan of the cornflakes!

Place: Starbucks
Item: Holiday drinks: Creme Brulee latte
My experience: They have a frappuccino version of this drink, which is also similar to the caramel frappuccino. Either way, if you like caramel - get it!

Place: Harry’s Bar & Burger (Rhode Island)
Item: Double wide burger and sweet potato fries
My experience: I am blown away by the price of my meal, it’s so cheap! From 3:30-5:30pm, all burgers are half off! The burgers look small but they’re actually quite filling. The sweet potato fries are extra crispy and crunchy on the outside and they never became soggy! One thing that threw me off was the ‘green sauce’ because it didn’t taste like anything, it had no flavor, which meant that it had no purpose for the fries. In the end, both my stomach and my wallet were happy.

Place: East Side Pockets (Rhode Island)
Item: Gyros pocket wrap and a falafel appetizer
My experience: Wow, I finally found a great gyro place. They use fresh and good quality ingredients. It’s an upgrade from street food because the bold flavors are definitely there. The best part was that the prices are very reasonable, great for students. Within the gyro wrap, it contains 6+ sauces and ingredients. Each ingredient triggered my taste buds (sweet, salty, etc). One thing I didn’t like were the falafels, mostly because I’m not a fan of it in the first place. If you like falafels, you should try it! This place is a must if you’re in Rhode Island. They’re pretty famous in the area for the friendly service and large portions.

Place: The Duck and Bunny (Rhode Island)
Item: The duck and bunny roll and potato chunks
My experience: As soon as you walk in, you’ll be awed by the interior design of each room because they’re quite unique. One thing that made our group a little worried was that they took so long to bring our food out. When the food came out, I couldn’t help but giggle at the presentation of my dish. It was funky and cute. The duck and bunny roll consists of smoked salmon, cucumbers, scallions, and cream cheese. Personally, I had higher expectations for this dish. The ingredients and the crepe didn’t seem to work well with each other. I would rather have it on a nicely toasted bagel. The potato dish was pretty good because it was well seasoned but it was also a little dry.
